Presidents come and go but attempts at Internet censorship just never die, until now… or until next time.

The Supreme Court late last month drove a wooden stake into the heart of a ten-year-old court battle over an Internet censorship law called the “Children’s Online Protection Act” or COPA.

The bill was unconstitutional before the ink signing it into law was dry; free speech advocates pounced by taking the law to court and succeeded in getting it blocked; COPA was never enforced. But it took ten years to get from there to here and as CDT President Leslie Harris writes in her Huffington Post blog, there is cause for concern that yet another censorship attempt might emerge from Congress within these next four years.
